North High School Andrew Aranda No Place for Hate Scholarship

Andrew, a 2014 North High graduate decided that there were things he felt the need to
change on campus. He also believed in putting words into action. He bought 100’s of
“Band Against Bullying Stand Up and Speak Out” bracelets, brought them to campus and
said “let’s start a club to make sure nobody feels left out”. With that the North High No
Place for Hate organization was started. He was among the first group of students trained
in the ADL Peer Leadership cohort and went into freshman and sophmore classes to
teach anti-bias, anti-violence education.

In honor of the work Andrew did to shift the culture and climate of the North High
campus to one that was more inclusive and welcoming; two seniors will receive this
award in his memory.
